People who have been protesting stay at home orders have got their priorities all out of whack. Instead of protesting a lack of testing or PPE shortages or the fact that states are re-opening before it is safe to do so or even the fact that healthcare is tied to employment in the first place these dumb asses are ignoring social distancing guidelines and putting themselves and others at risk to protest their right to get a haircut.
It just doesn’t make any sense. What exactly is the rush to get back to “normal” if normal society, driven by capitalism and exhibited by low hourly wages and a huge gap between the rich and poor wasn’t all that great to begin with? If we are going to draw a line in the sand and demand anything it should be to return to a better life not the life we had.
But having said all that there is something to be said for being able to get a haircut. After all, it is something that does need to get done especially if you spend a lot of time on video conference calls and need to remain presentable. That’s where a new barber shop webcam service (https://www.youprobablyneedahaircut.com/) that lets hair stylists help walk you through how to give yourself a haircut comes in. After all, just because you can’t go a barber to get your haircut doesn’t mean that a barber can’t come to you. At least virtually that is.
According to Futurism, “A ‘quick cut’ of 20 minutes will cost you $18 — definitely less than your average barber visit. A ‘not-so-quick cut’ at 45 minutes costs $30.”
Granted, this webcam service isn’t going to be as good as getting a real haircut. And it obviously can’t replace the atmosphere or conversation that you can get at your local establishment. But it sure is better than the alternative – foolishly protesting your right to a haircut. Seriously. There are more important things to worry about…
Is giving yourself a haircut with webcam assistance from a barber the Greatest Idea Ever?
