When I think of Sama I think of @Sama the handle on X and nickname of OpenAI CEO Sam Altman. But soon when we think of Sama we might be thinking of our own personal AI mentor.
As Product Hunt puts it:
“Meet Sama AI: Your app-first AI wearable for enhanced memory that is ready-to-use with your phone. Sama listens, offers feedback, and helps recall conversations. Privacy-focused for secure, consent-based interaction.”
Adds Tremendous Blog:
“Sama is not the first AI assistant to listen to your conversations. Rewind AI does something similar on your computer, and Humane has a pin as well.
But Sama is the first I’ve seen that proactively offers suggestions, rather than just waiting for you to ask a question.”
It used to be that we had to remember everything with key information passed down from generation to generation through songs and stories, told and re-told by great orators. But now rote memorization of random facts is pointless when we can just Google the facts we need. If we have an AI that’s always with us, always listening, always able to recall what we said then we won’t need to remember things ourselves anymore and that will free us up intellectually to do other things. And if that AI is able to mentor us and offer us feedback, without even being prompted, then we will be even better off.
Is Sama AI the Greatest Idea Ever?
