During the Comedy Central Roast of Justin Bieber the best line was from Bieber himself when he said that roast master Jeff Ross looks like the emoji that you send someone when you want to say that you have food poisoning. Boom! Roasted!
Aside from making for great punchlines emojis are fast becoming a legitimate mode of communication. One that millions of people around the world use to quickly and easily express themselves. The 21st Century equivalent of dictation shorthand.
As they’ve grown in popularity emojis have had to evolve. Just last year Apple unveiled over three hundred new politically correct versions representing six different skin color tones. Although that too offended some people.
Now, emojis are about to evolve again thanks to Jacob Blackstock, the CEO of Bitstrips. That’s right. The company known for making personalized digital comics tailor-made for social media, now wants to create personalized emojis, known as Bitmojis, that take after your likeness, and help you step up your texting game.
Stepping up one’s texting game may sound silly. Something that only kids would care about. And while that may be true now, that doesn’t mean we should dismiss Bitmojis on face value. After all, there was a time when Facebook was just for kids.
In a recent article by Business Insider Blackstock is quoted as saying that he believes that using Bitmojis makes us more human. That it’s a way of communicating face to face even when we’re separated by our screens, miles apart from one another. That it fills the need for a more personal form of texting.
And I think he might just be on to something. So while it may not sound like it now Bitmojis could very well be the future of communication. If you don’t believe me a Bitmoji of Seth Rogen farting will surely convince you.
The future has arrived. Don’t fight it. Embrace it. Bring on the Bitmojis!
Are Bitmojis the Greatest Idea Ever?
